A temporary election worker in Las Vegas, Brandi Lapriore, was reportedly assaulted while waiting for a bus at a stop on Eastern Avenue on October 26. According to Lapriore, the attacker punched her in the face and stepped on her knee after a conversation turned sour when she refused to engage in political discussions with him.

The incident is currently under investigation by Clark County officials, the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). Lapriore described the assailant as a stranger who became aggressive after she declined to discuss politics with him.

In response to the attack, Lapriore has since purchased an electric bike and no longer takes the bus for transportation. Photos provided by Lapriore to KLAS news show her with a bloody nose and a bruised limb, highlighting the physical impact of the assault.

The assault on Lapriore raises concerns about the safety of election workers, especially during a time when tensions may run high due to the upcoming Election Day. Lapriore expressed hope that the attacker faces consequences for his actions and emphasized the importance of protecting individuals who are involved in the election process.

This incident also sheds light on the importance of respecting boundaries and engaging in civil discourse, even when discussing sensitive topics like politics. Regardless of personal beliefs, it is crucial to treat others with respect and refrain from resorting to violence or intimidation when faced with differing opinions.

As authorities continue to investigate the assault on Lapriore, it serves as a reminder of the need to uphold the safety and well-being of individuals who play a vital role in the democratic process. By ensuring that election workers are protected and supported, we can uphold the integrity of our electoral system and promote a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
