The Las Vegas Aces have achieved a remarkable feat in Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) history by becoming the first team to sell out all of their regular season home games. This milestone was confirmed as the final tickets for the upcoming clash against the Chicago Sky on 3rd September have been completely snapped up.
The Aces are set to play a total of 18 games at the Michelob Ultra Arena and two games at the T-Mobile Arena this season. The franchise had already made history earlier in the year by being the first team in WNBA history to sell out all of its season ticket memberships back in March.
The surge in demand for Aces tickets can be attributed to the team’s impressive performance on the court. They are aiming to become the first WNBA team to win three consecutive championships since the Houston Comets, who achieved this feat by winning four titles in a row from 1997 to 2000.
During the 2023 season, the Aces had the highest league attendance, averaging 9,551 fans per game. They also set a franchise record for home attendance when 17,406 spectators watched them defeat the Phoenix Mercury at the T-Mobile Arena last season.
In the upcoming games, the Aces will host the Indiana Fever and the Sky at the larger T-Mobile Arena, where there is high demand to see rising stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
Leading up to the new season, online ticketing platform StubHub identified the Aces as the most in-demand WNBA team based on cumulative ticket sales for the 2024 campaign as of 30th April. Additionally, Sportico ranked the Aces as the most valuable team in the league, with a value of US$140 million. The team is currently averaging an attendance of 10,379 fans per game, making them the fourth-highest in the WNBA.
Matt Delsen, the Aces’ chief operating officer and chief financial officer, expressed his optimism about the growth of the team and the league as a whole. He believes that the viewership will continue to increase because the WNBA athletes are the best in the world at what they do.
The Las Vegas Aces have set a new standard in the WNBA with their impressive ticket sales and record-breaking attendance numbers. Fans can look forward to more thrilling games as the Aces continue their quest for championship glory.
