Nevada’s election results faced a significant delay on Tuesday night due to long lines at some polling locations in the state. While several key states were already being called for Donald Trump, voters in Nye and Washoe counties experienced multiple-hour delays, leading to uncertainty about the outcome of the election in Nevada.

The polling locations in Nevada were scheduled to close at 7 p.m. PT, but due to the long lines, the cutoff time was extended for voters who arrived in the early evening to cast their votes. The delays in these areas could result in up to three hours of waiting before the results could be determined.

For instance, at the University of Nevada, Reno, the estimated wait time to vote was three hours, according to Washoe County official Bethany Drysdale. Even at 8:30 p.m. PT, voters were still seen standing in line at 10 polling sites in Washoe County.

In addition to Washoe County, delays were also reported at the Bob Ruud community center in Pahrump, Nev., where only three voting machines were in use. The site also saw 145 same-day registrations by voters, further slowing down the voting process. The line to vote at this location was estimated to be two hours long, as reported by ACLU attorney Jacob Smith.

Despite the frustrations among voters due to the long lines, many were determined to cast their votes. Some voters at the Bob Ruud community center opted to fill out paper ballots instead of using the machines, adding to the delays. The ACLU of Nevada, which was monitoring the polls in the state, expressed that the delays were not surprising given the lack of preparation in Nye County.

The results of the election in Nevada will not be known statewide until every voter in line gets the opportunity to vote. Nevada is anticipated to play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the national presidential race, which was expected to be closely contested between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

While national results were still being tabulated, key battleground states like North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania were already called for Trump by various news organizations. Early exit polls revealed mixed sentiments among voters, with a significant portion expressing dissatisfaction with the state of the nation.

As the situation continues to unfold, stay tuned for more updates on the election results in Nevada and across the nation.
