The Prizes and Betting Secretariat (SPA) has been gradually introducing regulations since April, with the final phase concluding at the end of July. Some key regulations include the banning of credit cards and cryptocurrency for wagering, as well as the imposition of a 15% tax on player winnings over a certain amount. The ordinance allows for a variety of games, such as online slots, card games, roulette, and crash games, but all games must adhere to strict guidelines.
One of the requirements outlined in the ordinance is a minimum Return to Player (RTP) rate of 85% for each game, ensuring that the advertised top prize can be won at least once in 100 million plays. Additionally, live gaming studios must have stringent security measures in place, with continuous surveillance and retention of footage for at least 90 days.
Thiago Balieiro, vice-president of people and performance at Sorte Online, emphasized the industry’s focus on responsible gaming practices, including anti-money laundering programs and addiction prevention. The regulation aims to address the potential issues that can arise from gaming addiction in the population.
