Nathanuel McCowan, 49, from Oakland, Calif., was charged with the murder of Laketha McCowan. The fatal shooting of Laketha McCowan occurred on February 26, 2023, at the Edwards Avenue ramp off Interstate 580 in Oakland. She was found on the shoulder of the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound, according to the California Highway Patrol. The motive behind the killing remains unclear.
