The World Series of Poker Main Event is approaching its final table, and there are some standout players to keep an eye on as the competition heats up.

One player to watch is Kristen Foxen, who is one of the two remaining women in the Main Event. The last time a woman made it to the final table was nearly 30 years ago, so the odds are against breaking that glass ceiling this year. Foxen was low on chips during Day 7 but is known as one of the top tournament players in the world, with four career WSOP bracelets and over $7.7 million in live tournament earnings.

Another player of interest is Shundan Xiao, a software engineer from California who has shown promise despite having a limited poker resume. Xiao finished 53rd in the 2023 WSOP Ladies No-limit Hold’em Championship and has cashed in other events this summer.

As the Main Event progresses, it’s important to keep an eye on other players such as Niklas Astedt, also known as “Lena900,” who has a strong online poker presence with over $47 million in earnings. Brian Rast, a member of the Poker Hall of Fame with six WSOP bracelets, is another formidable opponent with over $27 million in live tournament earnings. Joe Serock and Jonathan Tamayo are also players to watch with impressive career earnings and tournament victories.

The competition will continue until the final table of nine players is reached, with the ultimate goal of claiming the $10 million first prize. The Main Event is being held at Horseshoe Las Vegas and can be watched online through PokerGO. Admission is free for those 21 and older.
