Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the man accused of being involved in the 1996 murder of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas, has managed to secure bail set at $750,000. This means that Davis, who is 61 years old, could potentially be released from prison to be placed under house arrest until his trial.
Davis, who was arrested in September 2023 at his home in Henderson, Nevada, needed to come up with $112,000 to post bail, as the remaining 85% would be covered by a bail bond company, specifically eBAIL, owned by Las Vegas bail agent Marc Gabriel.
Although Davis is not charged with pulling the trigger in Shakur’s murder, he is accused of orchestrating the crime, which is considered murder under Nevada law. He is the only person ever charged in connection to Shakur’s murder and the only surviving individual who was in the car from which the shots were fired on that fateful night.
Davis, who is said to be an alleged member of the Southside Compton Crips gang, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder on November 2 and is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center. His trial is set to commence on November 4, and if convicted, he could potentially face spending the remainder of his life behind bars.
It is important to note that Orlando Anderson, Davis’ nephew and a fellow alleged Crips member, was never charged in relation to Shakur’s murder. Anderson passed away two years later in a gang-related incident at a car wash in Compton, California. Additionally, the two other men suspected of being in the white Cadillac from which Shakur was shot, driver Terry Brown and Deandrae “Big Dre” Smith, also passed away without ever facing charges.
The events leading up to Shakur’s murder, including a physical altercation involving Shakur and his entourage with Orlando Anderson prior to the shooting, shed light on the complex web of gang affiliations and rivalries that were at play during that time.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the case continues to captivate public interest due to the enduring legacy of Tupac Shakur and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
