Volaris, a low-cost airline based in Mexico City, is expanding its nonstop service to Las Vegas. The airline will now offer direct flights between Las Vegas and Tijuana, operating daily on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays starting on October 29th.
Holger Blankenstein, Volaris’ executive vice president, expressed the airline’s commitment to providing more travel options and meeting the demands of the Las Vegas market. The expansion of direct flights aims to offer unparalleled flight experiences for travelers on both sides of the border.
Las Vegas, also known as Sin City, is a popular destination known for its abundance of casinos and entertainment options. On the other hand, Tijuana’s economy is built on industrial manufacturing and trade, making it a major tourist destination as well. However, Tijuana has faced challenges such as underground activities, controversial medical services, and crime rates, which have raised safety concerns for travelers.
The economy in Las Vegas is thriving, with record-breaking revenue from casinos and a growing demand for flights to the city. The city has also become a major sports destination with various professional teams. Airlines like Southwest are working on expanding their direct service to Las Vegas, catering to the increasing number of travelers visiting the city.
Volaris has played a significant role in transporting passengers to Las Vegas, holding a 9.4% market share of the international traffic at LAS airport. The airline currently offers flights to and from Guadalajara and Mexico City. In comparison, WestJet and Air Canada were the largest transporters of international passengers to Las Vegas last year.
To accommodate the growing number of passengers, the Clark County Board of Commissioners has approved an increase in the per-passenger fee charged to airlines. This move comes as LAS airport continues to experience record-breaking passenger numbers, surpassing previous records year after year.
With the expansion of Volaris’ direct service to Las Vegas, travelers can look forward to more affordable flight options between Tijuana and the entertainment capital of the world. The airline’s commitment to diversifying its destination offerings and providing high-quality flight experiences will benefit passengers looking to explore these vibrant cities.
