Sphere, the impressive entertainment venue, is gearing up for a series of exciting events following the NHL Draft scheduled for June 28 and 29. While the Super Bowl won’t be played inside Sphere, there are plans for viewing parties for major events like this on the venue’s massive 16K-resolution screen.

Joel Fisher, the executive vice president of marquee events and operations for MSG Entertainment, revealed that Sphere is set to host a variety of events beyond sports, including UFC cards, boxing matches, WWE events, awards shows, and esports. According to Fisher, companies interested in hosting events at Sphere need to be visionaries and open to presenting art in a unique way.

The relationship between Sphere and the National Hockey League is strong, as Sphere is under the same corporate umbrella as the New York Rangers, Madison Square Garden, and MSG Networks. This relationship played a significant role in securing the NHL Draft, which will be a groundbreaking event for Sphere.

Preparations for the NHL Draft have been in the works for at least six months, with Sphere Studios producing most of the interior content, promising a spectacular show that will engage the audience like never before. The draft will be the first live broadcast from Sphere, showcasing its capabilities to a global audience.

In addition to the NHL Draft, Sphere recently hosted Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s HPE Discover 2024, marking its first corporate keynote address. This event is part of Sphere’s strategy to offer a diverse range of programming, including concerts, screenings, and marquee events.

Looking ahead, Sphere aims to expand its offerings by incorporating 3D Audio-Beamforming technology to broadcast sound in different languages to various sections of the venue, a feature that sets it apart from other venues worldwide. Fisher and Koester expressed excitement about the potential for hosting prestigious events like the Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards at Sphere in the future.

With over 270 events and one million guests hosted in the last fiscal quarter alone, Sphere is poised to become a hub for entertainment and corporate events. The future looks bright for Sphere, with endless possibilities for innovative and immersive experiences in the world of entertainment.
